The task of a whole lifetime is to grow in our capacity to love. Love is not just an emotion, or even an intention to say “yes” to, or to affirm. It asks everything of us. Therefore, we are always in process, never fully up to the task.
In this brief audio, Terry suggests that this apprenticeship to Love is eternal and our best efforts to realize it will always be imperfect. He says, “I will die still learning to love better. But paradoxically this makes me feel incredibly grateful and loved — and adequate to this task of a lifetime.” Enjoy!
